FAQs
What medium do you use in your original artwork?
I work mainly with acrylic paint. I also usually include paper collage, acrylic pastel sticks, charcoal pencils, graphite... whatever catches my eye is added in. Most pieces are created on cradled wooden panels (think: upside-down wooden box.. and lighter than you think!). No, it’s not encaustic or oil paint!
What finishing do you use on the surface of the painting?
Each painting is finished with a sealing coat of acrylic varnish formulated to protect it from ultraviolet radiation. It also diminishes the susceptibility of the surface to dust and dirt and provides increased protection from scratching, marring, and moisture. That said, it’s always best to keep paintings from direct sunlight.
Are your paintings framed?
Not usually, but…
I have a range of paintings on cradled panels with a wooden edge that’s often left varnished but unstained. Sometimes I stain or paint them to harmonize with the painting. They are typically not framed.
Works on paper can be either unframed or framed. Unframed paper is much more affordable to ship. If you want to frame your piece, you can choose what you’d like once it’s in your home – it can be easier to decide that way!
Some of my paintings are framed and can be shipped with their frame. Details are listed with each piece.
I found a piece I like but would like it framed. Can you provide one for me even if it’s listed without one?
Contact me if this is something you’re considering. We can discuss what you’re looking for, a schedule and price, and whether framing is feasible for us to handle for you within your schedule. These frames are created by hand, bespoke for each piece, so they do take some time.
Will my painting be ready to hang?
Every piece will come ready to hang, except for pieces on paper. They are typically wired for hanging, while larger pieces sometimes include a French Cleat for more security.
My favorite painting has sold – how can I keep up-to-date with your new work?
You can join my mailing list to get first dibs on new work before it’s added to the shop. And you can also follow me on Instagram to see my latest work.
How will my painting be shipped?
Framed paintings or paintings on wood panels will be carefully packed using corner protection, bubble wrap, and cardboard. Each painting is unique so I take care that it’s well protected to arrive in perfect condition. If you choose to purchase a painting, I will contact you to confirm what shipping method will work best for you.
There’s a piece I think I like, but I’m not sure... Can I get a closer look or get a better idea of how it would look in my space?
Yes! We can arrange for several different options to help you make a decision. After all, artwork can make a big impact on your home, and my priority is to make you giddy with your choice. Here are some options to consider:
Schedule an in-person visit if you’re in the Ann Arbor area.
If you’re too far for a visit, we can set up a video call to give you a closer look at size and details.
You can send me a photo of your space with measurements and I can send you a mock-up of how the painting will look on your wall.
Arrange for a loan! If you’re local, you can take the piece(s) home for a bit and live with them to see how you feel.
If any of these ideas appeal to you, contact me and we can make it happen!
There’s a piece I really like, but it’s not quite the right size or color. Can you create something similar that will work for my home?
Yes! I often create custom paintings for clients who have a specific vision for their space. Contact me so we can discuss what you’re looking for.
What if I buy something, get it home, and decide I just don’t love it?
Worry not! If you find the painting you purchased isn’t the best fit, I’ll gladly accept returns of paintings in their original condition within 30 days.
